Broker Weather Special

Over the past few years the season here in the islands has been progressively shrinking back to the November to April season we were accustomed to in the late seventies when the charter industry was a lifestyle, not a business.

In the eighties and early nineties people began to realize that the summer months were an ideal time to visit the islands and we began to experience seasons of 25 to 30 charters per year. Recently there has been a noticeable decline in the number of late summer and fall charters.

The US weather channels have been one of the major factors in the deterioration of this summer business. When they have no weather to talk about, they see their ratings begin to slide, so they revert to reliving the worst of the Tornadoes, Floods, Hurricanes, Blizzards, and Mudslides of the last century. Have you noticed how the prospect of a tropical storm developing in the Pacific or Atlantic brings smiles and excitement to the weatherman's face? We are convinced that newscasters take perverse pleasure in predicting disaster. Bad weather news means good ratings. The down side is they're scaring people away from weather sensitive areas just like "Jaws" scared a whole generation of kids away from the water.

As you all know, the Caribbean has taken a major share of this media sensationalism in the last several years. The weather stations would have you believe that tropical storms are an annual occurrence in every part of the Caribbean.

The fact is that Wanderlust Yacht Vacations has only cancelled one week of charter due to threatening weather during 23 years of committed business in the Caribbean. Without these summer charters we believe that we can not continue as a viable business any longer, and will have to go back to yachting/chartering as a lifestyle.

The late summer months have always been our favorite weather months in the islands. We hope that you will put aside/see through all the bad weather hype and continue to recommend us throughout the summer.

To try and generate additional business in the late summer and fall, we are offering the attached specials.

Should a tropical storm cause a charter to be canceled a full refund of any deposit or monies paid for services not rendered will be made.

If your clients wish to reschedule the charter at a later date rather than receive a refund Wanderlust Yacht Vacations will guarantee them a ten-day vacation at the contracted seven-day rate at the time of your choice.

That's more than a 40% Inconvenience Bonus

While other meteorological disturbances can strike without warning, a tropical storm is a phenomenon that can be forecast days, if not weeks in advance and with modern satellite technology we can accurately track its movement and take action days before it affects the local area.

Your clients will have the option to cancel a charter if a Hurricane Watch is issued for the area even if we do not feel the storm is a threat. In the event that a Hurricane Warning is issued, the charter would automatically be cancelled.
